Frore watched the conflicts between members, listening to the words being spoken and frowning ever-so-slightly. So Majority would be haughty, would she? Let her be, Frore had no care. He turned his eyes up to the Alpha to listen, and when he spoke Fro's name, when he was assigned the rank of nightwalker, Frore nearly smiled. But no, he only nodded. "Thank you, my Alpha; Whitelightning." He nodded deeply once more, then stood. He glanced at Major, but his expression was oddly.. Well, expressionless. Instead, he turned his gaze to Shrike, nudging her form and whispering, for only her ears to hear, "Come find me later. I want to get to know you." This wolf, who could call upon control as if it were leashed and ready to come, interested him. She had been his companion during the hunt, and he now wanted to know her name.
Fro turned and wove his way through the pack gathering, reaching the back where the demoted wolf sat. Frore hadn't been in a large pack; It had been him, his sister, and his parents; No omegas. He did not know how they were to be treated, so he treated her just as he would any other wolf he did not know the rank of: He smiled and nodded gently, but did an extra bit, stepping forward to nudge her gently. "You were brave. Maybe punishment was deserved. But I know you will be brave through that as well, and will prove a good mother to your pups." He continued on, back to the camp to get some rest.
He was quite happy with his rank, for it was a nocturnal one. All wolves, he knew, should be nocturnal in their hunts and border patrols. And that was exactly what he would be.
He couldn't wait.

The large cat mearly looked down at the small cub perching his rotund body atop Daark's large paw. "Allo the'e, cub, 'ow are ye?" The thick-furred beast chuckled, tail curling to include the small one's paws in its long-furred warmth. About to speak further with the cub, harsh tones pulled his head up, ears flipping backwards slightly.
He watched the bickering in silence, bemused crystal eyes at a bored angle. Because he didn't know the way of the wolf, he kept out of the argument, only returning his attention to the Alpha when ranks where being declared.
Omega, eh? he thought, tail twitching slightly. Never had that before. Hmm.
But then, he heard his name. He was being promoted? To a scout, none the less. And yes, his forte was indeed stealth. He only hoped that the other species could master it as easily as he had.

"Yourr harrd worrk at the hunt allowed me to witness your strrengths, weaknesses, and motives. Even the newest of the new will be reconized today. It's time to rrecieve yourr rranks."
She watched as the alpha proceeded with the ceremony. Ranks would be given out. Her shredded ears went back, and she began to stand up. No need to stay any longer, she thought bitterly. A mere pup getting a rank was indeed unheard of. Unknown, however, remained standing, her eyes locked onto Whitelightning.
"Gunnerr and Spitz. You two werre among thrree to strrike firrst with me. Yourr brraverry was amazing, and so, I give you the rranks of Hunterrs. Take not yourr new positions lightly, eitherr of you. In times of famine, starvation... you will be ourr savorrs. Sharpen yourr noses and rrememberr yourr trracking skills. Therre may be a time when the entirre pack puts theirr faith into you." She gazed over towards the grey wolf and the brown wolf. Nodding slightly, the yearling figured that the two deserved the rank. They were both very good at hunting, and it had showed during the hunt.
"You all, Herrm, Aquamarrine, and Jaggedpaw. You arre given the Honorr of Daywalkerr. Yourr jobs will be to scout ourr territorry durring the day. You will keep us safe, and brring new memberrs to ourr pack. Joining you, durring the day, will be Joi and Ayla." Unknown's ears went up. Joi got a rank? She raised her eyebrows. So Whitelightning was putting pups to work? The yearling wondered if there was a slight possibilty that... No. No way. What good would a pup that couldn't talk do? Unknown flicked an ear back, telling herself not to get her hopes up too high. Most likely, she'd get some stupid rank. Like... Pup watcher. She grimaced slightly. Lord help her if that happened. Unknown listened further, "Jaggedpaw, I know you have prroblems rrunning. So, I assign you a grroup. You, Herrm and Aquamarrine will scount togeatherr."
Whitelightning held up his head high, now. He seemed to be rather happy and proud of the pack. "And finally, I request Shrike, Sean, Swig, Unknown- yes, I'm calling you too, and Majority to step forrwards." She froze. What? She was being grouped in with Majority, Shrike, Swig, and Sean? Unknown stared at Whitelightning. She halfway wanted to ask if this was a joke, but she didn't. She didn't think herself to be as good as Shrike or Swig. Unknown glanced at Shrike, and then at Frore, who passed her and whispered into her ear.
However, she glanced over to Sean, who seemed to be waiting for Shrike to step up. Were they supposed to file in in some order? Or were they supposed to just step up to the alpha? The yearling didn't see any reasons why they should; Whitelightning had told them to. Unknown cautiously took a step forward, gazing upwards at Whitelightning. Taking a few more careful, slow steps, the yearling walked up to the front, and stood before the crowd. Turning to where she could see both her alpha and the sea of faces, she felt a tad nervous. She had never been good with crowds. Glancing over towards Majority, Shrike, Sean, and Swig, she hoped they would hurry over. She didn't like standing up there alone.

Aquamarina tried not to show her happiness and failed miserably. Her jaw dropped to the ground. She attempted to thank Whitelightning, but only managed to mouth. All of her life even as a pup, she was treated as trash and given the rank of omega. Now she was a daywalker. One of the most important things she knew of. Aqua shut her mouth and than spoke"Thank you Alpha Whitelightning" Aqua bowed before moving closer to her beloved alpha.
She was grinning and her young face showed the appreciation of the rank. She always kept her ears lower, but soon they were brought up higher on her head. Only to about even with her eyes. Genlty her tail twitiched back and forth. She was quick enough to sneak and glance at her two friends. She was happy to be a Datywalker with them. I will be a great one, don't you worry Lightning She thought quietly to herself.

Shu grinned up at the older cat, and whispered loudly, "Is that like scout? You have a rank, right? Scout?" He repeated. What an honor! To be a cat, and accepted. The baby wriggled his rump, though how he managed it would remain a mystrey, as he was sitting on Daark Fayte's paw, with the older cat's fluffy tail wrapped around him.
"Maybe, when i'm as BIG as you, i'll be able to do what you do, too." He smiled impishly. Then his ears pricked. "Whats the white guard?" The snow white cub asked, though he tried to keep his voice down, it pipped and carried. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Herm opened his eyes wide, very wide. He had a rank? He nearly sqeezed his face into one of distaste, then remembered that to have a rank was a great honor. Flipping his ears up, he spoke quietly, "Of course, my Leige."
"Jaggedpaw, I know you have prroblems rrunning. So, I assign you a grroup. You, Herrm and Aquamarrine will scount togeatherr."
With a small smile upon his maw, he looked towards Jaggedpaw. "That's great. We can.. Expand? Our friendship. Plus, we can build your endurance while scouting." He told the crippled wolf softly. Then he looked at the fae with his blue eyes. They flickered. Aquamarina. I hope she watches her words, now..

“Ah my dear Swig, I promise not to keep you to worry for an old fool like me. But you must learn, I can win if I have faith in myself. But I’m gonna need a lot of faith from my packmates.”
She smiled from her spot and rested her head on her paws. He was definetly not like her older brother, that's for sure. Her ears pricked forward slightly as Hallow spoke to Whitelightning then to Oceanmist reguarding her pups. The anger that had been stirring in her quickly returned to nothing but joy as he spoke. She didn't hold back a tail wag as Hallow spoke and how he would train these pups when they were ready. Swig smiled at Oceanmist, feeling confident that Hallow would keep to his word. Whitelighting had made as wise decision at least leaving them in this older male's care. She didn't know him well but something about the snowy wolf made him seem like she could trust him. It was with this promise that her fears towards the future of the pups that made the artic settle back into her comfertable, sassy manner again. She turned now, listening more intently on what their alpha would say.
Therre may be a time when the entirre pack puts theirr faith into you."
Swig glanced towards the pair that he spoke of. She could only guess who Gunner was but the artic snickered slightly at Spitz. He certainly deserved such a rank. He had shown no fear when he charged right into the mammoth right beside his alpha. She tilted her muzzle slightly as it rested on her paws, listening further.
"You all, Herrm, Aquamarrine, and Jaggedpaw. You arre given the Honorr of Daywalkerr. Yourr jobs will be to scout ourr territorry durring the day. You will keep us safe, and brring new memberrs to ourr pack. Joining you, durring the day, will be Joi and Ayla. The rest of you, Rapture, Zero and Frore, you will take the rrank of Nightwalkerr. The moonlight will be your guide, and you will keep watch in the darrkerr hourrs of the night. As for Daarrk Fayte, ourr snow cat frriend, I would be grreatly honorred if you would set an example of stealth to ourr scouts. You too will be allowed to accept new memberrs, just be carreful not to scarre them away."
The others she did not recognize but merely listened to exactly what they would be doing. Even if it wasn't a rank bestoyed upon herself, Swig was rather insterested in hearing what the others would do. She liked to think and the more she knew, the better she would be prepared. Not that knowing the jobs of what ranks would mean the difference between life or death she laughed silently. Sparkling orbs glittered with amusement as she watched the wolves spoken to accept their ranks. Lucky dogs she mummered in her mind. They had been here long enough to gain a rank. In fact, she was kicked even more down the ladder of hierachy. The artic did she best to hide her dislike towards this fact. But what could she expect? She had only just joined the pack. Surely all that time wandering the borders did not count towards her time being a member. No, she had been but a shadow to the pack at that time.
"And finally, I request Shrike, Sean, Swig, Unknown- yes, I'm calling you too, and Majority to step forrwards."
Lost in her damn thoughts again, Swig twicthed slightly as Whitelighting asked for a group and her to step forward. Those calculating blue eyes snapped directly to his for a moment, somewhat suspicious of why she was being called forward. She didn't deserve a rank just yet. She had just risen to an official member, why now? The female flattened her ears slightly, angry at herself and him that he had gotten her in such a hissy fit. She rose from her seat beside Oceanmist in one fluid motion. Her confident step returned as she trotted forward to stand proudly beside Unknown. She was a younger wolf Swig thought as she glimpsed at her, smiling as she too was somewhat excited to hear what was about to be said. Swig looked at the alpha now, raising one brow curiously towards him. What exactly did he want to say to this group?

Despite trying to pay attention to the Alpha, he had quickly lost interest again. What did he care about some needy she wolf, who, when she was in heat, looked to the first damn wolf she laid eyes upon. Snorting quietly, he pointed his maw to the ground again, so that it was not too obvious that he wasn't listening. Spitz felt like he was the only one who did not know why they were all called tonight. He no doubt was, and so he thought they were here only to listen to the whore explain herself. Idiot, he shrugged to himself, and glanced up to look around.
"Gunnerr and Spitz. You two werre among thrree to strrike firrst with me. Yourr brraverry was amazing, and so, I give you the rranks of Hunterrs. "
Spitz' head immediately looked up to his Alpha. Had he heard right? Shaking his maw in slight disbelief to the words, he nodded appreciatively to White Lightning, and looked around to Gunner, and grinned at him. Hunter. Jeez, he wondered, I've only recently entered this pack. Scanning the heads, Spitz soon found that of Sean, who was seated next to a brown wolf, whom he did not quite recognise yet. As far as he had known, Sean had had to hunt for the entire pack on his lonesome, but now he had two who could assist him.
" Take not yourr new positions lightly, eitherr of you. In times of famine, starvation... you will be ourr savorrs. Sharpen yourr noses and rrememberr yourr trracking skills. Therre may be a time when the entirre pack puts theirr faith into you. "
Spitz looked for Sean and Gunner again. Only three wolves, to feed a pack as big as this? Was the old wolf mad? Surely, the pack needed more than three hunters to save the pack from famine if it ever did come? With the food being as scarce as it was, they'd have trouble finding enough meat to serve them. Oh well. No doubt Sean would know which prey was best, and he could give Gunner and himself some pointers on where was the best place to look. After all, the wolf worked alone for how long, Spitz was unsure of. or maybe, there were other huners in the Greater North that he did not know of? It was a possibility that they had not heard the Alphas call, and so were absent from this ceremony.
Looking around the large group of wolves, Spitz could help not but feel proud, like the others who were obtaining ranks, as White Lightning addressed more of the pack. The glance from the yearling was noticed, but Spitz had turned his head to quickly to nod back at her. Then there was Swig, who snickered, but it was not heard in the brown wolfs ears, that laid now flat on his head. I guess now, I'll need to start getting around the pack more, to get to know the others, he pondered to himself. Remaining on the spot on which he was seated, the male grew tired of looking around, and he focused on White Lightning, as he called the final group.
"And finally, I request Shrike, Sean, Swig, Unknown- yes, I'm calling you too, and Majority to step forrwards. !
Well it seemed now, with only a few ranks left to be filled, that Sean would not be hunting any longer. Spitz sighed, he had been looking forward to hunting with him and Gunner. And there was Swig, whom he had ran alongside before the pack had laid eyes upon the mammoth. Spitz watched expectantly to the group who was called. Only two of those five wolves the brute had interacted with, the others, he had not. They must be feeling anxious, being the last group to be called. A smile rolled on his lips and he shifted around in the snow. Now, he was not to be easily distracted, and he kept his eyes on the final bunch.

"Oceanmist, afterr your pups arre weened, you will be grranted back to yourr orriginal rrank as a Daywalkerr. You've been a good frriend since my brrotherr and I firrst lead, so I hope you rrealize that I'm going easy on you. If you can prrove that you arre trruely sorry forr yourr errors, you'rr rrank will rraise back up, and you will perrmitted to grrant new wolves into ourr back like I had originally planned.
Lucky wolf. Not only did she not receive banishment, or have the pack sicked on her, she got her original rank back, and her pups would become part of the pack. Jaggedpaw knew, of course, that it wasn't really a substitute for raising her children...but at the very least, her children would have a mother somewhere, even if they're father was, essentially, a ghost.
Whitelightning's voice brought the cripple out of his thoughts, and his navy-blue eyes lifted to watch the alpha wolf speak.
"This brrings us to ourr other business. Yourr harrd worrk at the hunt allowed me to witness your strrengths, weaknesses, and motives. Even the newest of the new will be recognized today. It's time to rrecieve yourr rranks."
Ah. Jaggedpaw had originally expected this meeting to be all about the ranks. In the high emotional fury of Oceanmist's confession...and the resulting fuss from the pack, he had nearly forgotten about this part. His stomach suddenly started bubbling with anticipation...
Why? He was a cripple; What could a cripple do for the pack? Maybe once he could hunt somewhat, but as for now, he was a pack member and still had to rely on scavenged kills! Maybe the anticipation was for Herm and Aqua. Yes...that had to be it. After that mental scolding, any excitement for himself would certainly have faded away.
Therre may be a time when the entirre pack puts theirr faith into you."
Jaggedpaw didn't know Gunner, but he knew Spitz. He scowled slightly, not really enough for anyone to take undue notice. Yes, the cripple had always relied on others to hunt things down so there would at least be some scraps left for him to eat. But Spitz? After their first, and hopefully last, encounter, Jaggedpaw was not too pleased with the idea of Spitz being one of the pack's saviors.
You all, Herrm, Aquamarrine, and Jaggedpaw. You arre given the Honorr of Daywalkerr. Yourr jobs will be to scout ourr territorry durring the day. You will keep us safe, and brring new memberrs to ourr pack.
....What?
Jaggedpaw blinked several times, glancing from Herm, to Whitelighting, to his crippled paw two or three times, running the words over and over in his head. He'd heard his name in there, he was sure of it!
Jaggedpaw cast a glance at his friends, thinking that their reactions might tell him if he had indeed just become a Daywalker, or if his foolish mind had simply added his name with Herm and Aqua's automatically. It was possible.
Jaggedpaw suddenly realized that Whitelightning was still talking. The cripple's attention returned just in time to figure out that the alpha was talking about Nightwalkers, and the snow leopard being allowed to accept members as well.
Jaggedpaw eyed the adult cat interestedly. He hadn't been around felines much, and no wonder; they were always bigger than he was, and he was always after their kills. The cats were clever, of course, and they knew that a lone wolf coming along meant a scavenger, and one that could easily be killed if he came too close. And now, here was a cat in his own pack, being trusted by the alpha wolf to scout the borders and go near the wolfs' dens. Jaggedpaw was sort of proud of Daark, though he wasn't entirely sure why. He'd just met the cat on the hunt, after all.
Then Whitelightning's eyes met his, and it instantly became a struggle not to glance away. The alpha spoke, "Jaggedpaw, I know you have prroblems rrunning. So, I assign you a grroup. You, Herrm and Aquamarrine will scout togeatherr."
So it wasn't like he'd missed the crippled paw...and he was still going to give him a rank, and not only that, but a rank where he could enjoy the company of his two friends. Bowing his head, Jaggedpaw said, "Th-thank you, sir. It's an honor."
"That's great. We can.. Expand? Our friendship. Plus, we can build your endurance while scouting."
Jaggedpaw smiled, happily but with a tint of nervousness at the corners. "I can't believe it, Herm...not to whine or anything...so I won't." He paused here, nodding sharply as if that would force the decision into being. "But anyways...it'll be great!"
"And finally, I request Shrike, Sean, Swig, Unknown- yes, I'm calling you too, and Majority to step forrwards."
Jaggedpaw's ears pricked interestedly. Weren't these...besides Unknown, leaders of the hunting patrols? The cripple guessed that they were all getting the same rank, but a very high-honor one it must be, to get called in front of the pack for it. Jaggedpaw couldn't think of a high enough rank for it, though obviously, Whitelightning would get to that.
Unknown was the first to approach the alpha. She looked puzzled and nervous, certainly understandable. When she glanced back at the other wolves Whitelightning had called, Jaggedpaw gave her an encouraging sort of smile. This had to be one prestigious rank, and those who earned it had to be chosen carefully. So Unknown should have to be nervous...though Jaggedpaw knew he'd be feeling that way, too.
Shifting his weight slightly to get some of his mass off of the crippled paw, Jaggedpaw waited silently, with ears raised, for the final ranks to be bestowed upon the lucky five.

"Yourr harrd worrk at the hunt allowed me to witness your strrengths, weaknesses, and motives. Even the newest of the new will be recognized today. It's time to rrecieve yourr rranks."
Shifting her weight, she pricked her ears when Whitelightning began to move on to other business. Ranks! So this was what the whole meeting was to be about. She wondered quietly if she had qualified for anything. It wasn't long before the alpha raised his voice again over the soft murmurings of the pack.
Therre may be a time when the entirre pack puts theirr faith into you." Hmm. She had noticed Gunner of course, and Spitz she had seen before. Both seemed like decent wolves, certainly fit for the rank they were awarded. She dipped her head briefly to congradulate them.
Jaggedpaw, I know you have prroblems rrunning. So, I assign you a grroup. You, Herrm and Aquamarrine will scount togeatherr." She didn't know which wolf was Herm or which was Aquamarine, but she assumed the one that had been limping earlier must be Jaggedpaw. Whitelightning obviously had faith in the Jaggedpaw, assigning him work to keep him busy and make him a working member of the pack. Her confidence fell a little. Even a wolf with a bad paw had been named and she had not. Sighing lightly under her breath, she resigned herself to listening through to the end of the ceremony before she could slip away from the crowd and be alone with her thoughts for a little while. Her mind was just beginning to drift off when her attention snapped back, having heard her name.
"And finally, I request Shrike, Sean, Swig, Unknown -- yes, I'm calling you too, and Majority to step forrwards."
Come forward? What was this about? Dare she think, dare she hope he had reserved a rank for her? Right before she heeded his command, Frore nudged her and whispered for her to find him later into her ear. Somewhat dazed, she carefully kept her face impassive while she stepped forward, halting a few tail-lengths away from the cream-and-white alpha. Standing between the blue-pelted yearling Unknown and the yellowish tan wolf Sean, her own vibrant chartreuse eyes flicked over the crowd, than curiously studied Whitelightning's face for a hint of his intentions.

Gunner listened silently as the others argued over Oceamist’s welfare. When the alpha finally spoke his judgment Gunner nodded his head approvingly. WhiteLightning spoke again.
Oceanmist, afterr your pups arre weened, you will be grranted back to yourr orriginal rrank as a Daywalkerr.
The gray wolf glanced briefly at Oceanmist, she was retreating to the lowest part of the pack. Omega. Many members continued to stare at the pregnant female but Gunner’s gaze had snapped back to WhiteLightning as he heard his name.
Gunnerr and Spitz. Therre may be a time when the entirre pack puts theirr faith into you…
Hunter Gunner felt about to burst with the pride that followed those words. He returned the grin Spitz had shot him. They were side by side now. A thought occurred to him and he glanced to Sean, there was no expression on his shaded features.
And finally, I request Shrike, Sean, Swig, Unknown- yes, I'm calling you too, and Majority to step forwards…
Gunner’s thoughts cleared. Sean was obtaining a new rank. Would that mean only he and Spitz would hunt now? He stood silently, not wanting to disturb the going on of WhiteLighting's words and slowing padded over to the Spitz. Settling himself by the oddly colored male he whispered, "Do you think two is enough?"

Majority shook her head in dismay. The wolves were still churning with anger and she had yet to speak at all after her outburst. Many wolves grow and learn with different sights and beliefs and with that they know more about one way then another wolf might. She’ll keep repeating that in her head, to allow herself to know that every wolf is different and never should their instincts be regarded as the same. Majority wrapped her tail around her back paws warming her toes that sunk into the melting pools below her. Quiet murmurs rose to the chance to speak to one another as a unrequited silence broke out amongst the group.
The voices ceased when the Alpha rose to speak once more. Her eyes were already on WhiteLightning, she only needed to spark her attention to hear what he had to say. He spoke of many things, Oceanmist regaining her composure after the pups were born and he spoke of her trust. Oceanmist was very trustworthy to the pack. She had to be, if she could accept new members. Majority refused a smile. Oceanmist had yet to redeem herself in Major’s eyes.
Majority was a tough cookie. She’s one of those cookies that threaten to crumble and spill on the floor. She is a cookie that is safer to eat if it has been warmed first on a hot stove. Ah ha! But once eaten the taste was so scrumptious that the taster only yearned for more. That’s why she never let her judgement fall, even if no one found what she had to say of any interest, she would never change what she believed. She knew she had something to offer and she would always please herself before turning and trying to please another. She sighed deeply, her breath clouding her vision as it lifted in clouds leading to disperse.
She looked over the heads to see Spitz. She had never paid him any attention until this very moment. She hadn’t known who he was or whether or not he was new or old to the pack. So he was a Hunter now? Majority smiled, hunters were important to packs. They would have to use their cunning instincts and decipher which animal would lose their lives that day. Spitz and Gunner were two wolves that looked like they could form a friendship and plan the best tag-team ever. She looked back to WhiteLightning, not wanting to be seen by Spitz or have anyone think that she paying particular attention to anyone.
It was the scouts that were announced next, a whole bunch of scouts. She couldn’t remember all the names but she did realize that a handful of the wolves that had been in Shrike and her own group had become scouts. She smiled, well done…. She didn’t speak her approval aloud; she would congratulate them after the ceremony. As this was a ranking ceremony, now that had finally become ultimately clear.
Majority didn’t think of ranks, would she receive one? Actually she was anticipating a good-talking-to. One that included her face turned to the group and WhiteLightning’s booming voice that ricocheted into everyone’s ears. Perhaps it wouldn’t come, but unfortunately her name had been called. The names of others were called before hers Unknown, Shrike, Swig and Sean. Already the wolves were stepping up to the Alpha, she hesitated. For a moment, she realized this was life or death for her. On the one hand she could be given a rank that asked for acceptance in the pack. On the other hand WhiteLightning could take his iron fist and knock her out of the one place she could call home. She stood to all fours, shaking with each step. She took a step forward and looked up to the Alpha. Her eyes were pleading, she had chosen the lather. She didn’t want to be banned for thinking differently. She wanted his acceptance.

"You are very brave dear. I will never think of you as a traitor." Oceanmist looked up to see a warm inviting smile. She smiled back at it, but hers was weaker, less true. “Thank you, child. I’m sorry, but I don’t know your name.” her attention then turned to hallow, who had come up to her very quietly, “I am Hallow my dear Ocean. I promise the best for your children. You will be proud of them. I assure you this. I may not know what you have done completely or what has worked up in the muscles of these wolves. But I will never think of my pack mate as a traitor. Think of me as an old fool who still follows the old code. I am a friend that you can count on. If you ever need a simple ear or words of advice. Do not be afraid to come find me.” she could only murmur out a small “thank you.” Before he began to speak again, “Alpha, if I may speak. I am honored you have given me the right to teach the pups of Oceanmist. And I will make sure they will be raised properly as if I myself have fathered them. I will teach them the way of the arctic wolf through my way of learning. But I do not feel the pups should suffer for what their mother has done, if only an action such as that considered betrayal. But I want your permission to have full granting of teaching them the way I was taught. I will be their father."
She looked now at Hallow with great appreciation. This wolf she hardly knew was speaking on behalf of her unborn children, making it possible for them to live a better life. if she could not raise them herself, she was glad that it would be Hallow to do it.

Whitelightning waited for them all to step forwards, watching them twitch with anxity and grinned lightly. Well now, at least he got their attention, didn't he?
The first to set his sights on was Shrike, one of his hunt generals when they brought down the mammoth, and surprised to see her look so... surprised to be up here. Was it really THAT farfetched, or did dear Shrike have some self-esteme issues she wasn't brining out into the open? Either way, modisty or personality problems, he had made his decision. "Shrrike," said the wolf. "Durring the hunt you prroved yourrself an exceptional leaderr, howeverr, you'rre farr to harrsh with those you disapprrove of. Howeverr, I have faith in you, and I know you have potiental under yourr brrash attitude. This is why I am grranting you the position of Beta Female, the second highest command female in the pack. With this comes much responciblity, and you must rretain a cool exterriorr orr you will fail. But, I believe in my decision, and I believe you will go overr well. Hold yourr head with prride, my frriend. And you arre not the only to recieve this rrank today..." The wolf turned his head at Sean and continued. "Sean, you will join Shrrike in her position as beta male. As a forrmal hunterr, we all rrespect you and trrust you. We know you will not allow us to strray."
Ahhh, the betas, something Greater North lacked since it's foundation. Before, it consisted of suck ups and ill-tempered loonitics who wanted a taste of power, and they got it, as long as they kept their heads down and did was Uncle Julies told them. A pathetic bunch, a worthless bunch... Shrike and Sean were above them far more then he could ever count. From here on, the REAL pack began.
"Swig!"
The third call, the second high rank.
"The firrst day I met you was while you hunted fox with a youngerr sibling. I saw your dominace therre instantly, and I must admit, I was concerrned. Would you be able to rroll over to other authorrity? Could you adapt? These past days, you've shown us all that you could. This is one of the most rrespectible trraits I've everr seen. Because of this, I give you back authorrity. Swig, I grrant you the rrank of gamma." Whitelightning smiled fondly, half snickering, half hoping it wouldn't go to her head and push non-obeying members in the ocean. "BUT! Like Beta and Alpha, Gamma is a two person tango... everryone! Rrememberr this day! It is the day when the youngest gamma was everr prresented! Unknown!"
Hott damn, he called up the pup!
"Unknown, you've done more for me then perhaps everyone here, and I disbelieve that yourr age should prrevent you frrom taking up rresponciblity. This is why I trrust you with the position of Gamma, along with Swig. Swig, I leave it up to you to teach her what you know about leaderrship, and I will help as well. But..." He paused, looking the blue wolf over keenly. "We can't call you 'unknown' forever, can we? Frrom today on, yourr new name is Kendi."
There was only one more to give, and he'd do it before the shock of unknown's new name was settled.
"Majority. The pack detests yourr rradical ideals. They arre disturrbed by yourr cold ways and unnerrved with yourr strraight faced crruelty. Howeverr. I find yourr ways very similar, forr you arre no crruelerr then the place we call home. Yourr harrshness is as legendarry as ourr winterrs. You arre a wolf of this land. Forr this, I grrant you the sister rrank to the White Gaurd... The ICE Gaurrd. You and yourr forrce will run swift and merrcifully across ourr ocean. You will learrn to swim without the water seeping to yourr bones and stopping yourr brreath."
With a nod, he turned, adressing the rest of the pack. "Meet Grreaterr Norrth's High Council!" He ended the statement with a howl.
But... was he truely finished? While their spirits were high and their hearts were soring... did he have one more thing to say?
Indeed. Indeed.
After the howls and the congradualtion wishes... Whitelightning hushed them with one swift jerk of his head, and gracefully, leapt down from the boulder he sat upon. Into the crowd he moved, parting them easily as a gentle wind, until he stood infront of a sole creature, so close, that his nose was nearly inches from hers.
He stood before Thyme and moved his neck forward just so, until they touched so lightly, that even the clouds looked down to see.
Whitelightning had choosen a mate.

Shrike inclined her head in respect for his choice, feeling slightly dizzy. "I am honored to recieve this rank--I'll do my best to improve and make your decision a good one," she murmured. Honestly, she was rather unbalanced by all of this; she'd been under the impression that no one had noticed her, and that she would have to strive for any kind of recognition at all. But to be named Beta! It caught her off guard, to say the least. However, she recovered herself, quickly. She wanted to hear what the other ranks would be.
Next, the sandy-yellow wolf who had greeted her when everyone had gathered today, was addressed. When Whitelightning had finished speaking, she turned to Sean, smiling. "Congradulations, Sean. I look forward to working with you in the future." Future; the word sounded pleasant on her tongue. Her gaze snapped to Swig then as Whitelightning addressed her in turn, awarding her the title of Gamma. Shrike nodded and smiled at Swig aswell, pleased with Whitelightning's choices. Swig seemed like she would make a fine Gamma indeed, from what Shrike had seen of her at the hunt.
But Whitelightning's next proclaimation caught her off guard all over again. Again, when the alpha had finished speaking she turned to the young blue wolfess, who stood next to her. "I'm sure you'll be a brilliant Gamma, Kendi. I'm glad for the chance to work with you, aswell." She said this warmly, knowing that it must mean a lot to recieve a name of her own. Pricking her ears, she turned towards the final member to be called upon. Whitelightning had made her Captain of the Ice Guard; and in doing so, had explained somewhat as to what the Ice Guard's purpose and duty was.
Sighing under her breath, she gave a short nod to Majority in congradulations as well. Stepping to the side to be a few paces closer to Majority, she voiced her concerns so that only the new Captain could hear her. "I must congradulate you on your new position, and I'm sure that you'll do your job well. However, I believe we should speak privately after the ceremony, and work out our differences; we won't be able to work to the best of our abilities if we remain at odds." She went back to stand with Sean, her new partner. A moment later, Whitelightning formally announced the freshly formed High Council to the pack, making her swell with pride.
Her eyes seemed brighter than ever, absorbing the scene before her as if she were in a dream, though she knew this was reality. Her attention shifted once more as everyone quieted, Whitelightning passing the Council and gently parting the crowd, moving through the gathered wolves as if they were no more than whisps of smoke. He was standing before Thyme. Leaning forward, he brushed her nose softly, the most subtle way to pronounce what was as good as a shout to the heavens; Thyme was now his mate, making her Alphess.
Shrike had her concerns about Thyme's reasoning (she still thought that "vertigo" idea at the hunt was ludicrous) but she had faith in Whitelightning. She knew that he wouldn't make her Alphess without making sure that Thyme could handle the job first, and even if her hunting skills were a little lacking, that didn't mean she couldn't excell in other areas. Only time would tell exactly what kind of Alphess Thyme would be; but more importantly, it was clear Whitelightning loved her. She would wish them happiness together when she got the chance, but she now she simply held her breath, wondering what everyone's reaction would be.

Sean's ears perked forward as his Alpha spoke, his attention was on Shrike. He smiled toward her as he finished off "Congratulations Shrike!" He looked back before saying anything else, his name was called. "Sean, you will join Shrrike in her position as beta male. As a forrmal hunterr, we all rrespect you and trrust you. We know you will not allow us to strray." Sean's eyes grew wide and he bowed slightly "My Alpha, I will not let you down. I am honored" he smiled pride gleaming within his eyes. "Congratulations, Sean. I look forward to working with you in the future." Sean nodded looking toward her with a smile "Thank you Shrike, as do I" he said looking toward his Alpha with a determined expression. He would do his best.
His eyes soon fell to Swig as she was announced as Gamma, he nodded toward her about to speak as Whitelighning announced Unknown to be Gamma as well. He grew serious. He also named her, Kendi. He smiled, you youngest Gamma anyone could ever hear of. He knew she would do her job well. "Good job, to you both" he said nodding toward them. He felt proud for them, the shock Kendi might experience would be easy to see, her expression seemed to be frozen. His eyes snapped to Majesty, the queen of cold remarks. She was given the rank of Captain of ice guard. He knew she would bring the pack a good name with the rank.
"Meet Grreaterr Norrth's High Council!" Sean felt pride rushing trough him, he was chosen out of the whole pack to stand here with this rank. He turned toward his pack mates with a nod, he wouldn't let them down.
He looked toward the council, his team. Then to Shrike, his partner in the rank he smiled toward her going to watch his Alpha leap off the bolder. He had chosen his mate, Thyme. He was sure Thyme would be a good Alphess, if White believed she could do it, he did. He wasn't to sure, he trusted his Alpha's judgment none the less. The way he looked at her, there was love. He loved her and he wouldn't let what the pack thought get in the way of that. He knew he would of been hard to pick a mate suitable for the lead rank of Alphess, much though would have to have gone into it. He could see the future, it would be bright. With the Alphas leading them to greatness with him just behind.
One thing wasn't set in stone yet. What would the pack think?
