*Basics*
These generally apply to the entire forum.
General FAQ:
Read here for much information, graciously posted by Fable.
A Quick Intro to the BBA:
Read here for a bit of information on each section of the forum, graciously posted by BloodLust.
Illegal Material:
Refrain from posting here on the website; Proboards has rules against it, and it could be used to shut down the forums should it become an issue.
Art/Writing Theft:
We do not allow it! The following falls under the category of theft...
1. Taking another's artwork and posting it as your own.
2. Taking another's artwork and posting it, even if not claiming it as your own, without written permission.
3. Tracing another's artwork and posting it as your own, without written permission and credit.
4. Posting google/other website images without written permission and credit.
5. Using another's character and role playing them without permission and credit.
6. Using templates without following their creator's rules. (i.e. Not giving proper credit.)
7. Collaborating/trading and not giving credit for either the character, coloring, or line art. (Depending on what is applicable.)
8. Plagiarism - stolen writing. That includes stealing these rules for your own website, and I swear if I found out another person has done that I'm calling the authorities! Of all the things to steal, theft of rules is just a 'bit' hypocritical, wouldn't you say?!
Spam:
Spamming here comes in two forms: The first is writing complete gibberish, and the other is writing pathetically small posts - particularly in the role playing areas. Elaborate on your posts; your responses will be taken more seriously if you do so.
Flaming:
You will probably find people you don't like, both here and other areas on the Internet. Don't personally attack them; all it does is make you look bad, aids in the possibility of a flame war starting up, and earning yourself a ban.
Cursing:
It's always been allowed here - Kay hasn't ever expressed problems with it - in general, but because of the varying ages that go to this forum (and also due to those who might see it while "passing by" on the other side of the computer anyway) we ask that your titles do not include swearing. Also, please give a warning prior to your statement if excessive vulgarity will be including in your post.
Grammar and Spelling
As I have recently incorporated a Spell Check option to even the Quick Reply feature, there is no reason you cannot correct spelling and grammar mistakes. Please, don't make it hard on the rest of us to try and "pick apart" the meaning behind your words when it's quick and painless to make the computer do this for us. It also helps you sound more intelligent if you can write properly, surpassing any barriers that would otherwise cover up your skills and talents.

*Specific Rules*
See the individual sections for additional, or alternate, rules.
Debate
Warrant all Arguments:
Don't just tell us how much you hate Bush; give some reasoning to it.
Bad example:
Bush sucks. I hate him! I can't believe he was voted into office, that idiot!
Or...
Bush sucks. Discuss.
Good example:
Ever since Bush came into office, taxes have gone up, and bad decisions such as ___, ___, and ___ have come into play. What should have happened instead was ___, ___, and ___. [Continues on for at least two paragraphs; longer posts are preferred.]
In short, we expect real posts, reasons, and warrants for your arguments. Do not just post an opinion, and then tell everyone else to "discuss", because we don't want to talk just so you can sit back and listen to us. It's not fair to everyone to ask that they debate when you wouldn't even give them something to respond towards.
Be Respectful/Courteous:
While this applies to the entire forum, this is especially important to emphasize in this and in the Angst sections. There will be different opinions, and - as shown above - flaming will not be tolerated because of them. If there is a problem, contact a moderator and we'll handle the situation accordingly. There is a difference between debating and arguing - if you don't know the difference, do not post!
Controversial Arguments:
Tread carefully. You could very easily offend someone, and unless the victim is overreacting, you will be punished for it. Keep in mind the "good examples" vs. the "bad examples" - they will help you avoid any inappropriate debate discussion.
No Plagiarism:
If we've discovered that you've plagiarized, you will be temporarily - or, if a repeat offense - permanently banned. The moderator staff is fair about such actions; we only ask that you be honest.
Cite your Sources:
If you have information that is not common knowledge, you must cite it. If you don't, others may not listen to you and respond, or it can possibly be seen as plagiarism.

I am also restating this here, in the Debate area, because of the extreme importance that you communicate with us when debating.
Character Trading
General Trade:
This board is for giving away or swapping names. There will be no selling of alternate characters for money or any of that which occurs on Furcadia. ( - Kay Fedewa )
Kay Fedewa's Characters:
The use of her characters is granted for role play, and on this forum only. Ask for special permission to play those characters elsewhere.
If you have one of her characters and you haven't posted in 1 month without leaving behind a reason such as "Going on vacation; be back later.", the character will be put back on the "market"** so that other players may have a chance at role playing them.
**This will only happen if you are using one of her characters. You can be absent for as long as you wish on your own character and it will never be taken from you.
If you wish to quit the board or want to play but not on a steady basis, please relinquish any character of hers you may be using by putting it up on this board. Give others a chance to play these in-demand characters! ( - Kay Fedewa )
Changes to this rule: If you have a Kay character you must now post it within a month or it will be put back up. You can now try out for a second Kay character, but you may not have two “important” ones, such as alphas. If you succeed in gaining a second Kay character, the time limit to post them changes to two weeks for both. This is to ensure that the person with two is serious about the characters, and will post them both. If they do not post one or both of the characters, they will be put back up for trade for someone else to play.
Something else to note:
In order to tryout for another Kay character, you most first demonstrate that you're active with your first one. The best way to do this is to use the two-week rule as if you had two already.
Other's Characters:
Each individual who puts their characters or designs up for adoption have their own set of rules. Please abide by them; some can and will take away characters if you do not fulfill their wishes.
Angst
Be Respectful/Courteous:
While this applies to the entire forum, this is especially important to emphasize in this and in the Debate sections. There will be different opinions, and - as shown above - flaming will not be tolerated because of them. If there is a problem, contact a moderator and we'll handle the situation accordingly.
The Spam Bin
Spam:
Spam rules do not apply in The Spam Bin.
Fanart
Pornographic or Sexually-oriented Artwork:
Many of our users are not only under the age of eighteen, but considerably younger. Depending on the severity of the piece (i.e. A full pornographic image, vs a simple, possibly sensual one) you may or may not be allowed to post it. Please, if there's any chance that it may be seen as offensive or inappropriate, give a warning at the beginning, or in the title, or your thread, and/or use links instead of actually posting them where browsing eyes may see.
Character Directory
Grave Digging
Grave digging is not allowed. If there is a major change in your own character's profile, you may bump it, but only for major changes! Please do not post every time you update a simple picture or two onto your profile - there are many new accounts in need of moderator attention, for approval, that your bump may "cover up". Also, if you bump someone else's profile, without good reason, you may very well be temporarily - or, as with anything, should it be a serious repeat offense - permanent ban. For this, we will give a warning, but only such. Please refrain from giving us reason to ban you. The staff does not enjoy it.
If you need to talk to the person, or want to respond to something they posted a long while ago, PM them. Don't bump up their character profile.
****This also applies to any thread on the forum.
