Aachen of the Moon

Little Brown Fox
Aachen lifted his head towards the sky. The sun was falling and the moon rising, and Aachen dreaded the moon. So much cold the moon brought him when he became a hairless and ugly creature called human. The night before had been a very frightening night for Aachen. He ended up sleeping on the cold wet ground, while the moon shone upon him, taunting him in it’s strange ways.
Aachen didn’t want to suffer another night of freezing in that defenseless form, where other wolves might attack his strange helpless body. They wouldn’t understand how a human could smell so wolf.
Aachen’s eyes widened as the moon finally raised it’s ugly face and the moonlight touched the gray hairs of the animal. As the fingers of moonlight reached through the trees towards Aachen, he felt his body begin to transform. His muzzle seemed to almost completely vanish before his very eyes, and his fur appeared to melt away. His body shifted very strangely, and Aachen watched his own hideous transformation from wolf to child.
Once he was finished transforming, he held the human hand out in front of his face. He felt so blind in this form, and yet…he was always amazed. Aachen climbed to his feet, something he had taught himself to do in order to survive as long as he had. Tonight he would find a way to keep his naked form warm.
Aachen padded quietly through the trees, towards the light, and the scent of the humans. This night, he had positioned himself near the man place, where they couldn’t see his transformation but he wouldn’t have to walk far to reach them. Aachen was nervous as he came towards the village. Would man be able to tell he wasn’t normal? He knew he would already look strange to them, due to his pale skin. Most of the humans here seemed to have a darker complexion.
The now boy peered through the trees at the red flowers. All Aachen’s life he had been taught the destruction of man’s red flowers. Only men were allowed to create them, and animals were to stay away. Sometimes when man lost control of them, the flowers would devour life and destroy land and creatures. Now, Aachen could only stare in awe as the petals grew and shrunk, and devoured the wood which the flower grew upon.
Aachen stepped out of the trees from which he hid and towards the glowing. He was mesmerized by the constant flicker of the strange red flowers. As he came closer, he saw people dancing and singing around the flower and Aachen was even more surprised. Aachen never realized that humans could sing as well as wolves and birds.
As Aachen walked into the camp and closer to the dancing humans, he could feel warmth coming off of the flower, and the hairs on his body stood up as he was caught between the warmth and the cold. Some of the humans were staring at Aachen now, while other’s continued dancing and singing, completely obliviously of the small boy who stood shivering in the shadows.
Aachen most definitely got the attention of the dogs of the village. Many stood and came towards Aachen with the stiff stance of a wolf about to attack. They’re black lips peeled back and they snarled at the boy. These dogs didn’t see Aachen’s human form, for they were completely dazed by Aachen’s powerful wolf scent and they saw him for being only a wolf. Other dogs were completely fooled by looks, and only saw a human boy.
“Get out!”
“Leave at once, or die, wolf!”
“Get out of here, you wild beast!”
Aachen stared fearfully at the dogs that came towards him with their fangs bared, growling their threats at him, but he stood his ground. Aachen lowered his head slightly, stiffened his back, and bared his own small fangs at them.
“How dare you try and run me out! I am not just wolf!” Aachen growled in his native language. “I am human, too! A mutt, just like some of you!”
Normally, Aachen would not willingly admit he was human as well, but he had to do what he could to keep the dogs from attacking him. Then, Aachen tried a new tactic. He suddenly stepped towards the dogs very quick and low, while stomping his foot in a very threatening human gesture. Many of the dogs backed down, but some were even more riled by this threatening gesture and a few barked menacingly.
Suddenly, a human woman came running to Aachen, flailing her arms at the dogs and yelling, causing the animals to run off. The woman seemed to throw herself at Aachen, and he couldn’t help but first shy away from human contact. She pulled him close in her arms and stroked his hair, while making strange motherly noises at him. She then pulled him away and held his face in her hands, and seemed to demand something of him with her strange noises. Aachen just blinked at her, unable to understand her language. Her eyes then got a strange sadness, and she smothered him once more.
Aachen soon found himself covered in the strange human cloths sitting in front of the strange red flower. The human woman sat very close to him, but was talking to other humans. Aachen couldn’t understand them, but he felt they were talking about him.
Aachen did not worry about what the humans were saying though, he was more worried about what the dogs were saying. He could hear their whispers off in the shadow. They spoke of how the higher ranking dogs would not allow Aachen here. Some of them came behind Aachen and whispered their threats with soft growls. It was very obvious to him that as long as he was a wolf, he was not welcome by all. Especially not the dogs of the village.
[Some things are going to be difficult to understand, for they're from Aachen's point of view, so if you have questions, ask.]

Overdrive
(OOC: Sorry this took so long. End of the semester stuff going on. Also, I'm sorry if this doesn't make much sense in places, I didn't get much sleep the night before. <3)
It was a very noisy evening, and Overdrive did not like it. Where he saw a loud dog, he barked once at them to make them quiet down. It was night and time to be quiet, unless they liked getting beaten about the head from being too noisy, and he knew that the humans would start to complain about them soon enough.
Eventually, the beta had most of the nuisances calmed down, but their obvious discontent still shone as brightly as the fires around the village. Overdrive had of course heard specifics about the complaints and made his way closer to the root of the problem, wanting to nip this in the bud, right then and there. His curly tail bounced as he walked closer. An odd smell came off that one, and he supposed that was it. And looked like he was with that human female. She'd been feeling different since she lost her own pup to the river, just a bit of a walk away. No doubt she had taken this one in as her own, but there was something about him that made all the dogs go crazy.
He stopped just a few lengths away, sitting down, staring straight into his eyes, the glow of the fire making his mismatched eyes seem more like browns than blue and green. Overdrive waited for him to acknowledge him before speaking or approaching any further.

Syna
Syna was very tired. She hadn't slept in some dime. The girl was distressed over what the alpha had told her, that she shouldn't go search for her pack yet. Deep down, she knew that he was right. She felt terrible. Along with being tired, she was sick. Her head was hot with fever. As she walked along, keeping to the darkest shadows possible, she lifted her hands up before her baby blue eyes. Sweat beaded precariously upon the skin, and at the same time she was shivering as if snow still covered the ground. Her stomach churned viciously with every step and all she wanted was to vomit. The infection that she had gained was spreading throughout her body, and she wouldn't be able to go anywhere unless she ate and rested, two of the things she did't have the luxury of in this man village. Whenever she was able to sleep, it was very restlessly, and the tiniest sounds would awaken her with a snarl. Most of the food had been shrunk with the human's burning air, and it tasted disgusting. Oftentimes, she had thought to raid the mens kills, but she knew that wouldn't be permitted. She didn't even know what her rank was with the humans of the village. Most of them didn't seem too menacing, but you could never tell with humans.
As she moved along, thoughts still deeply intwined with what they had been before, she picked up traces of voices from the not-wolves. Whining softly, she moved closer, using the cover of darkness as a shade as she listened silently. The voices of the not-wolves came to her easily and she listened as if in a trance. She didn't reconize the not-wolves as and she had met before, and their voices were so sinister, so vicious that it chilled her to the bone.
" The wolf is disgusting..."
" I hope Cyrus disposes of it. We don't need that kind of filth around here."
" Why, just thinking about it makes me shudder."
" We should just be able to slaughter it ourselves."
" We can't. As long as the beasts wears the human skin, then we will be slaughtered for harming it."
" Weak humans. I can't believe that they can't see..."
" WOLF!"
The not-wolves started barking again, in her direction, spitting their venom and cursing dangerously. She gave a whine and a light growl, backing up. She hadn't had this many problems with the creatures before. Maybe it was because neither Kieda or Cyrus was around to protect her. Cursing right back in her native language, she barked and howled, moving out of earshot of the not-wolves. Frustrated, the sickly girl shook out her body, causing the thin coat that the human man had given her to fall from her back. The sweat on her flesh chilled her as she moved farther, wholly oblivious to the loss of the coat.
There was a scent on the air that made her freeze in her tracks. Lifting her bloodshot blue eyes to the sky, she inhaled deeply. There was a wolf in the village alright, the not-wolves were speaking truth. She still snarled lightly as she thought of those stupid beasts and thought of following the scent. It was the scent of a full wolf, not one of the half wolves like the full alpha. It made her think of her sister Glide, and she wondered with a whimper where the half wolf had gone to. She missed her deeply, and there was a pain in her heart that wouldn't alleviated until she saw the other once more.
She decided to follow the scent. If there was a wolf in the village, maybe they had heard of her pack. It wasn't a common pack. All one had to tell most wolves is that it's the pack with the twin shag carpets. Giggling as she thought of her brothers, Lie and Keiya, she slunk farther forward, ignoring the human's stares as the naked, sickly looking seventeen year old girl crept forth in the darkness, towards the fire and the scent of the wolf. A few of the not wolves circled her and one even snapped at her heels. She resisted the urge to whip around and snap right back, but she didn't. Her concentration was focused on the wolf's scent.
As she neared, she noticed the brown and whit not-wolf who had been in the welcoming comitte when she first came upon the village. She reconized him as not only the beta of this pack, but Kieda's mate. Kieda was like a second mother to Syna, and she held her very dearly. So Syna lowered her body to the ground and approached Overdrive, coming up beside him whining like a puppy. Lowering herself next to him, she glanced about, blue eyes wide with fear to be around so many humans. It seemed as if she were getting used to them, but only just barely. Most of the humans circled around the burning air were stareing. Not only did a strange, naked boy appear suddenly in the village, but so did a strange naked girl. She thought that most of these humans weren't even aware of Syna's presence while she resided in the village. She was normally very good at being stealthy, when she didn't have such a bad infection. Whining, she trembled, but resisted the urge to move closer to Overdrive. She knew him and it would be a comfort knowing she was safe from the eyes and paws of the humans. She didn't see any wolves as she looked about, but she knew this is where the scent originated from. Confused and frightened, Syna instinctively edged closer to Overdrive, lifting a hand to bury in his fur. She was shaking violently and closed her eyes, cursing herself for getting herself into such a perdicament. Words flowed from her mouth, frustrated, sad words and deathly quiet words...and they all came out in the language of the wolf.
" How could I be so stupid? There's no wolf here...the humans probably just killed one...disgusting beasts."

Overdrive
Overdrive still sat still, like an anchor in the storm, so to speak. Every now and then he would bark at the dogs to tell them to settle down and knock it off. He really didn't WANT to go after them if they wouldn't behave, but if he did, he would. And most of the dogs were really no match for the large brute. Fat, yes, but still very large and very strong for a dog.
Unfortunately, the beta wasn't paying much attention as the girl came up, but noted offhandedly that she was there, but in essence he wasn't putting two and two together. So it came almost as a shock when her hand grabbed his fur. Overdrive didn't jump, but his head swung around to meet the strange girl.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were there," he said, in a comforting tone. He adjusted his weight to accomodate the girl better, should she need him to lean on more. "No, one wasn't killed," he replied, though he knew the statement was meant for no one in particular. "It has something to do with that new boy over there, he smells of wolf and it's making the other dogs upset. He definately doesn't smell human, that's for sur-" Overdrive cut himself off to look more closely at Syna.
"...you are not well."

Little Brown Fox
Aachen was surprised to see a dog walk straight up to him and sit calmly before him. The dog did not bare his teeth at Aachen, bark at him, or even grumble a threat. He only sat and calmly stared at him, sending chills down his spine. Aachen opened his mouth in awe, and then shocked himself. It was such a human expression, and not all human things came so easily to the young one.
To add to the man-wolf’s confusion, a human came. She was not like the other humans, Aachen could tell upon first look. She appeared an outcast of the humans, but even Aachen felt she was better off here than he. He saw the human bury herself in the fur of the large dog.
To Aachen’s horror he heard the girl speak to the dog. It was not that she spoke to him the reason that Aachen flinched, but the fact that she spoke Aachen’s language. He could understand this girl human! The dog replied to her and Aachen felt his heart pick up speed, and he was sure the dog could hear it with his keen ears.
Aachen was still young in many ways, and found himself crawling towards the large dog and the girl who could speak wolf. It was such a puppy-like thing to do, but how could a nothing of a creature like him resist? There were humans who could speak wolf, and Aachen was overwhelmed. Not only that, this dog appeared gentle towards Aachen, and nothing seemed that way towards him after he was cursed with his transformation.
Aachen did not bother to submit to the big dog. He was already extremely vulnerable the way that it was, and if the dog felt he was a threat it would be very simple for him to seize the boy’s neck and kill him if be needed. Instead, Aachen cautiously reached for the dog’s muzzle. He was slightly frightened, and it was visible in his trembling, for he didn’t wish to be bit when he had nothing to protect his poor naked hand. Aachen gently placed his hand under the dog’s chin and slowly pet him. Though the young one did not roll on the ground in front of the dog, his hand replaced what would have been his tongue, and he was generally submitting to the big one.
“I’m sorry to have caused so much trouble,” Aachen said softly in his native tongue. “I’m sure you are confused, like the others. You will be the first to know that I am…”
Aachen paused for he did not know what to call himself. What sort of word could ever tell this dog of the creature he was. He was a freak of nature and a horrible accident.
“I guess I am a man-wolf,” Aachen finished. Suddenly his crimson eyes grew wide. Maybe now that the dog knew, he would not be so friendly towards him. “Please! You must not chase me out! If I go out there, I will die. I can stay away from the village during the day when I’m wolf, if it bothers you, but this body is much too weak to make it out there alone. I the moon forces me to transform, so I look like this. Nights are long and painful without warmth.”
Aachen was frantic to make this dog understand. Mostly, he was worried that this animal would not care if Aachen went out into the wilderness and died. Some animals were like that, and Aachen only hoped this was not one of them.
“Please! I am not vicious! I’ll be good! I will submit to everyone and follow the rules I promise!” Aachen begged with sincerity. His voice suddenly became softer. “Just please…don’t leave me out there to die…”

Overdrive
Overdrive turned his attention back toward Achen as he approached. He still sat there calmly, not angry, not happy, just there. His tail wagged happily as he recieved a scratch beneath his chin. Really, there was just a way that human hands could get at JUST the right places. There would be no way he could ever live away from human hands, that's for sure. The beta pulled his head away as the halfa talked and he studied his words. But soon, the boy began to grow frantic and the dog shook his head.
"Shhh shhh, no one is throwing your out, strange though you may be. But so long as the humans have claimed you, I'm afraid there's really not much us dogs can do about it. They're really the final say. But I will have to be sure to let Cyrus know about you. Unfortunately, you probably will get lots of attention around here. I'm afraid I can't stop that."
He looked back at Syna for a moment to make sure she was alright before turning back to the boy. "So what is your name, strange one?"

Syna
Her mutterings had mainly been to herself, but she hadn't tried to hise them from anyone who could understand her, and obviously, OVerdrive was able to understand her words. She looked slightly surprised when he spoke to her. There was a wolf in the pack, and it had to do with the boy. She looked up to the boy, realizing for the first time that the scent was coming from him. Confused, she tilted her head to the side. He didn't look any different from the other humans who populated the village, until Syna looked deeper. There was fright, worry, and a deep sadness stirring within the boy's face. She gave a little whine and backed up, totally ignoring Overdrive's comment about her health.
Aachen spoke then anyway, coming towards Overdrive and making Syna back up insinctivley. Even though the scent that was coming from him soothed her, his human appearance made her uncomfortable. Moving backwards upon her knees, she pulled herself to the ground, listening to his words with blue eyes wide with uncertainy and fear. This wasn't a boy. She could tell. The dogs were telling the truth. It was a wolf. Taking a deep breath, she pulled her arms closer to her body, still looking and listening as Overdrive spoke to the boy wolf. This was all too strange. Everything in her life was logical...but this, it wasn't. She wanted to just run away, but she was too entranced by this person and so very fearful at the same time. Even wolves had their demons...and this, seeing a human who could change into a wolf...is what she wanted for herself, more than anything.

Little Brown Fox
Aachen had been too worried about the dog attacking him to have much time to speak with the girl. Only after he was reassured by the animal, did he relax enough to even look at her. Another thing that showed his youth was his short attention span and the name “Cyrus” was all that Aachen thought of before shifting his eyes towards the girl. Maybe he wouldn’t have looked at her if she wouldn’t have backed away.
Aachen stiffened and stared at her through crimson eyes. He did not near her though, for even though he could not scent it he could tell she was not healthy and he didn‘t want to make her run. Her position and expression gave away either fear or confusion. Aachen didn’t know much of humans, and though she could speak wolf, he had a feeling that both of them were afraid of each other. The girl who could speak wolf was afraid of Aachen for he looked human, and Aachen was afraid of her for the same reason, regardless of whether or not she could speak his language.
The only difference was that Aachen could not smell his own scent, the unique wolf scent that would follow him forever. The scent that wafted over the village, causing dogs to go mad with rage. The scent that was causing all this confusion.
Aachen was slightly sad. They were both the same, both outcasts, and neither of them could near each other because of fear. They both had a wolf’s mind, and both had a human body.
If only…but I could never show anyone my transformation. Besides, it would scare her even more, possibly, and if I walked into the village during the day, it would give the dogs more of a reason to kill me. The humans surely wouldn’t recognize me, they aren’t that smart.
The boy visibly deflated. He could only hope to make the best of things. Looking at a space somewhere between the brown and white dog and the pale girl, Aachen finally spoke, probably to both of them.
“I am called Aachen.”

Overdrive
OOC: Well, I'll post something really quick, but I promise it won't be long at all. It's just silly to have 5 paragraphs to introduce yourself.
"Well, then I welcome you here, Aachen. You may call me Overdrive, I am beta here. If there is any trouble, and I know there most likely will be, you just come find me, alright?" The dog looked friendly, but still a bit stern. Definately approachable, though.
He looked back to Syna, still concerned for her health. He barked worriedly to the humans sitting around the warm fire, hoping one of them would come over to help her out. "I cannot help you get well, and will not let you sit here ill," he explained. He was afriad that if he didn't he might have scared one or both of them away. But he knew that the humans had a way of making things come back from sickness easier, if not faster, than with comfort.

Little Brown Fox
Aachen slowly sat in a very dog-like position, crimson eyes watching the dog called Overdrive. Aachen never knew the dog’s also had a hierarchy system, as the wolves did.. At least it was something familiar to Aachen, that he could easily understand, unlike most things in the village of the men.
The boy peered around Overdrive and at the girl. For once in the short span of time since he had first come to the village, his heart began to slow to a normal speed. The feeling of fear slowly began to subside. Maybe it was just because he knew he was with Overdrive. Overdrive had the things that Aachen had lost in his transformation, mostly things Aachen needed to protect himself. Not only that, but Overdrive was well-respected, unlike Aachen. That made Aachen feel very safe.
Aachen nodded his head at Syna. “You should listen to Overdrive. He is very wise.”
